Caster Steer
A caster steer trailer has castering wheels on the
front of the trailer and has better lateral stability than fifth
wheel steering or four wheel steering. The lateral
stability of a caster steer trailer is comparable to a knuckle steer
trailer. |
|
Four Wheel Steer
(Double Fifth Wheel
Design)
-
Capacities - 1,000 lb.
and up
-
Deck sizes -
48" x 96" and up
-
Steel decks are smooth, expanded, or safety plate
|
|
|
Four Wheel Steer
A four wheel steer trailer pivots the front and rear
axles through a single pivot point on each axle. Due to the double
pivot point design, the standard four wheel steer trailer has the
best tracking attributes, but is the weakest in lateral
stability. |
|
Fifth Wheel Steer
-
Capacities - 1,000 lb.
and up
-
Deck sizes -
48" x 96" and up
-
Steel Decks are smooth, expanded, or safety plate
-
Single fifth wheel steer
|
|
|
Fifth Wheel Steer
A fifth wheel steer trailer pivots the front axle
through a single central mounting point, thus giving fifth wheel
steering better lateral stability when compared to a four wheel
steer trailer but less lateral stability than a caster steer and a
knuckle steer trailer. |
|
Knuckle Steer
-
Capacities
- 1,000 lb. and up
-
Deck sizes
- 36" x 72" and up
-
Steel Decks are
smooth, expanded, or safety plate

|
Knuckle Steer
A knuckle steer trailer has the pivot points over the wheels. This allows the
trailer to have excellent lateral stability. A knuckle steer
trailer can also be configured as a four wheel steer system. |
